Coach game night: A winning way to build culture from the top

The NICA First Aid Committee has revised the first aid requirements for coaches to improve clarity, scalability, and accessibility. Please review the updated requirements here. The most significant change is that online-only courses will now be accepted to fulfill the first aid requirement. CPR courses still require an in-person component (hybrid courses are accepted). We encourage coaches to pursue in-person training, especially if they are new to first aid, as hands-on practice is invaluable. As such, first-time certifications for Level 3 NICA Approved First Aid courses will still include an in-person component. Our hope is these changes make it easier to access training. Many leagues organize first aid training for their coaches so we recommend starting your search for training with your league.
Additionally, we have updated the list of approved professional qualifications. If you use a professional qualification to satisfy your NICA first aid requirement, check the updated list for changes to your qualification. If your qualification is on the list, simply upload proof of its active status and documentation of your next certification or expiration date to Pit Zone in place of a first aid certificate. If you believe a qualification should be added to the list, please submit it to the Coach Help Desk for review. We will no longer accept individual substitution requests via the substitution application.
Thank you for your dedication to completing first aid and CPR training. It is critical to helping us ensure the safety and well-being of our student-athletes. If you have any questions, please contact the Coach Help Desk.
