GAME OF THE MONTH

Knee Tag

Knee tag is a high energy game to play with your team once you’ve all become acquainted and are ready to have some silly fun.

This non-elimination game is great for everyone, coaches and student-athletes alike! Consider playing this game at a preseason event or throw it in to mix things up between skills during the practice season. It requires very little setup and packs a lot of excitement into a very short time frame.

Where: Flat open space

Objectives: I Can Have Fun!

Setup: Establish a small playing field with cones.

Rules: Everyone is “it”. If a student-athlete gets tagged on the shoulder, they immediately go down on one knee and extend a hand. They re-enter the game after a teammate gives them a high five. Student-athletes cannot get tagged when they are standing still with their hands covering their knees. They may only have their hands on their knees for five seconds. Set a timer for one minute of play.

Reflection Question: What would you play differently next time? What made this game fun?
