We have updated the language in section 4.13 D to: 7 Day Minimum Graduated Observation Period: If the licensed health care provider determines that the athlete sustained a concussion or a head injury, the athlete shall also complete a minimum graduated return-to-play protocol under the supervision of a licensed health care provider. NICA-specific concussion resources including a sample graduated return-to-play protocol, please see the NICA Concussion Resource Webpage: https://nationalmtb.org/concussion-resources/
For questions on risk management and NICA’s concussion policies, please reach out to riskmanagement@nationalmtb.org
As a reminder, NICA’s handbook is updated twice annually. We encourage coaches to review the NICA handbook every season, with attention to your league-specific addendums.
