Great leaders (and coaches) know that they should be thinking about their successor long before they plan to leave their role.

When the time comes to pass the torch, transitioning leadership thoughtfully can be a complex process! It can be tough for a coach who has built and grown successful teams to hand it off, and for new leadership to feel empowered and ready to jump in. There’s also a LOT that goes into coaching and planning, it can be overwhelming to think about all of the info that’s needed to pass along!

The NICA Coach Education team has created a new set of resources to help with this process. Check out the Succession Planning guide and accompanying fillable worksheet, located in NICA’s Coach Education Center. These documents lead both the current head coach and their successor through a thoughtful mentorship process, and address common challenges that coaches face when transitioning their team through leadership. Written for a two-year timeline, the resources can be adapted to fit any schedule, and applies to teams of all sizes.

Check out these resources today and get started on your thoughtful leadership transition process!
