NICA coaches come from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Not every coach comes with experience in managing the behavior of large groups of young people. Enter the Behavior Management for NICA Teams guide! Think of this document like a cookbook: it’s designed to be a practical resource that you can refer to as needed rather than something you have to read cover to cover.

Just as a cookbook provides a variety of recipes, this guide offers a range of strategies and techniques to help you manage behavior, foster inclusivity, and create a positive team environment. You don’t have to apply every strategy at once or in a specific order; you can choose the strategies that best suit the needs of your team. However, just as a chef needs to understand basic culinary principles to successfully follow a recipe, a coach needs a solid grasp of foundational concepts—such as clear communication, consistency, and adaptability—to effectively implement the strategies outlined in this resource. By using this guide as a flexible and supportive tool, you can enhance your coaching approach and create a positive environment for all athletes.

You can find the new Behavior Management for NICA Teams guide (along with dozens of other coach and team resources) in the NICA Education Center. Just log into Pit Zone, click the Courses, Resources, & Benefits button, and look for the coach resources on the right side of your dashboard.
