Girls who participate in sports often have questions specific to being a female athlete. Our Self Care for Girls guide can provide some insights on frequently asked questions from girls and women in mountain biking.
As a NICA coach, you likely work with female student-athletes. Understanding how menstruation affects, and can be affected by sports is key to being a great coach who makes girls and women feel comfortable and included in our sport (regardless of your own gender). Coaching Her has published free learning modules for coaches that provide evidence-based, collaborative learning about menstrual health that are grounded in girls’ lived experiences. Visit the Coaching Her website, and check out the modules available on menstrual health, as well as other great learning opportunities (including the awesome Coaching Her modules now built into our NICA Education Center).
Coaches can earn 1 CEU upon completion of both menstrual modules (to total 1 hour). Submit certificates of completion to the CEU upload area of your coach profile.
For more NICA resources on women and girls’ health as it relates to cycling, navigate to coach resources in the coach education center, and search for “Self care tips for women & girls who ride”.
To access the Self Care for Girls guide (and all other NICA Coach Resources), simply log into Pit Zone, click the “Courses, Resources, & Benefits” button, and navigate to the Coach Resources on the right side of your NICA Education Center background.
This content was authored by NICA’s coach education team.
