Who wants more trails in their community!?

IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) has created a new course to help NICA coaches learn how to turn their passion for mountain biking into lasting trail access for their community and student-athletes. Learn about the eight aspects of trail development and find the correct level of involvement for you! Every NICA coach who completes the IMBA Trail Champion course will automatically receive 3 continuing education units (CEUs) to help maintain their license. Find the new course in the NICA Education Center, titled “IMBA Trail Champion.”

The IMBA Trail Champion course focuses on the trail development process. The process outlines 8 major aspects in trail development:

  • Community Engagement
  • Funding
  • Access
  • Inventory
  • Planning
  • Design
  • Construction
  • Stewardship

Coaches who complete the course will learn about all aspects of the process. The goal is for coaches to find out how they can help communities create more places to ride bikes. Whatever you can do to help with trail development matters! You don’t need to do it all; we all just need to do something.

Once you take the course and have new ideas for trails in your community, reach out to your league director to see how we can all work together to develop new places to ride bikes!
