This virtual training by PeopleForBikes gives you the tools to advocate for safe, connected, and accessible places to ride. Learn how to support grassroots efforts and use PeopleForBikes’ resources to make a real difference.

NICA coaches and league directors play a powerful role in shaping the future of biking in their communities. This virtual training, hosted by PeopleForBikes, will equip you with the tools and strategies to help the NICA community, including young athletes and their families, become effective advocates for safe, connected, and accessible places to ride.
Drawing on years of experience investing in bike advocacy nationwide, this session is designed to set you up for success in supporting grassroots efforts that can transform passion for biking into lasting change. You’ll learn practical ways to speak up for bike projects that matter— projects that can make a difference in lives and strengthen the fabric of communities— and how to use PeopleForBikes’ tools and resources along the way.
Carter is an advocacy consultant and author of the forthcoming book If You Want to Win, You’ve Got to Fight: A Guide to Effective Transportation Advocacy. Carter will share proven approaches for turning enthusiasm into political influence.
As Vice President of Infrastructure at PeopleForBikes, Martina works with communities, policymakers, industry leaders, and advocates across the U.S. to accelerate the construction of great places to ride bikes and adoption of pro-bike policies.
This content is part of NICA’s coach education team. NICA’s comprehensive coach education program provides new and existing coaches with the high-quality training and resources they need to be confident, competent, and empowered leaders on their youth mountain bike teams.
